Overview
Mediation is often an excellent alternative to litigation when a dispute arises. It is especially appropriate when you need a collaborative, non-confrontational, problem-solving process to preserve relationships or to reach what may seem to be an unattainable result. FMPC mediation services provide a conflict-resolution process guided by an experienced, highly-trained, neutral professional. As mediators, our role is to facilitate communication, define issues and negotiate fair solutions that are mutually agreeable to all parties. Choosing to mediate rather than litigate has many advantages:
Quicker: Mediation typically only takes days (or in complex situations, weeks), whereas litigation can last months or years.
Cost Effective: In mediation, courts are not involved, so there are no court-related costs. Additionally, because matters tend to be resolved more quickly, there is less time spent on the matter, which can further reduce expenses.
Confidential: Unlike court cases, which are public, mediation is typically confidential, which means there are no records or transcripts and any evidence introduced during mediation typically cannot be used later or revealed.
Greater Flexibility and Control: In mediation, unlike in a lawsuit, the parties are in control. This means that the parties have a much greater say in negotiations and greater control over the outcome.
FMPC’s Mediation Services can be used in a variety of situations, including:
- Contract Negotiations
- Realtor/Home Buyer Disputes
- Bankruptcies, Personal or Corporate
- Inter-Family Conflict, Such as Divorce or Parent-Child Disagreements
- Employer/Employee Disputes
- Small Claims
